The 15 professionally recorded tracks on this CD are played in the true New Orleans tradition by clarinettist bandleader John Tucker. Others in the band include the legendary Tony Newstead, Steve Waddell, Geoff Kitchen, Geoff Bland, Tony Orr, Ron Williamson and Allan Browne and Barry Markby.

In 1976, the leader of the popular Yarra Yarra Jazz Band, Maurie Garbutt, organised an Australian tour by world-famous New Orleans trumpeter Alvin Alcorn (b.1912, d. 2003) with the Yarras. The items on this double-CD were professionally recorded at Melbourne’s AMP theatrette on the 2nd and 3rd of April—they include Bourbon Street Parade and Indiana.

030 Alan Bradley’s Jazz Kings – 1947 – 1949 VJAZZ 030 – BRA 642

Never before released material.
In 2011 the Jazz Museum was bequeathed a set of 78-rpm acetate discs of a popular band from the 1940s and ’50s, Alan Bradley’s Jazz Kings. The band had never been commercially recorded so with the help of trumpeter Alan Bradley and the band’s pianist Graeme Bull, we were able to issue this band’s first commercial recording ever.
