A fabulous new acquisition for the AJM – “ A Comprehensive Pictorial History of Jazz in Geelong” by Ian Coots . It includes almost 800 photos and scans of jazz related items. Many of the photos, and the stories behind them, have not been seen or heard before. This is an historical compilation of more than 420 A4 pages with details of 101 bands, 27 individual musicians, 15 Festivals and Conventions, 65 Venues and an index of nearly 1500 items. Geelong has a rich and diverse jazz musical history which commenced in the early 1920’s and continued throughout the subsequent decades; it is a history not previously documented.
