The Australian Jazz Museum is proud to introduce its online exhibition GEORGIA LEE, a fantastic new exhibition exploring the life and achievements of powerhouse jazz vocalist Georgia Lee. The proud Kalkodoon and Torres Strait Islander woman paved the way for Indigenous female musicians by becoming the first Indigenous woman to record a full length album in 1962, in addition to performing and recording with some of Australia’s best jazz bands for over 20 years. Featuring gems from the collection and snippets of some of Georgia Lee’s best performances, including “Strange Fruit,” “Basin Street Blues” and “Mean to Me,” this exhibition is the perfect place to start exploring the AJM’s online offerings.
