Free entry (no cover charge) for AJM members at Dizzy’s Jazz Club gigs this week:

  1. Thursday, 14th April – Trumpet. Trumpet are a 5 piece Melbourne jazz band, led by vocalist David Ruiz, playing styles of jazz music from bebop to bossa nova and beyond. Trumpet also delve into other styles including blues, funk and soul.
  2. Friday, 15th April – An Ella Fitzgerald Tribute with Mel Searle and Craig Smith Quintet. Join Mel Searle and her band as she traces Ella’s fascinating journey and performs scintillating interpretations of the songs that made Ella famous.
  3. Saturday, 16th April – Nichaud Fitzgibbon Quartet. Nichaud Fitzgibbon is recognised as Australia’s premier jazz stylist her natural charisma and feisty elegance brings sophistication to performances offering a repertoire of popular jazz standards from the Great American Songbook. Performing with Mark Fitzgibbon Band.
  4. Tuesday, 19th April – Saxband with Lachlan Davidson. The Monash University Saxophone Big-band, other wise known as “Saxband” is led by Lachlan Davidson and made up up of Monash University students. The repertoire ranges from re-arrangements of Australian big band music to compositions for sax ensemble with and without rhythm section, and classical works.
  5. Wednesday, 20th April – Dizzy’s Big Band. Dizzy’s outstanding 18-piece Big Band perform at Dizzy’s, playing traditional arrangements from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Count Basie and Duke Ellington through to modern masters such as Gordon Goodwin and Tom Harrell.
