Free entry (no cover charge) for AJM members at Dizzy’s Jazz Club gigs this week:

1.    Thursday, 20th October – Refraction + Jeremy Woolhouse Trio. Trading places at the stage throughout the performance, two trios juxtapose original compositions. Melody and simplicity are common threads weaving a story that twists and turns through each ensemble change. Audiences are taken on a journey offering an insight into the identity of contemporary jazz in Melbourne.

2.    Friday, 21st October – Dr Crask and His Swingin’ Elixir. Playing swing tunes predominantly of the 30′s and 40′s, the Swingin’ Elixir kicks out the dancing tunes with Lindy Hop in mind. You’ll hear songs that were performed by the likes of Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Prima just to name a few.

3.    Saturday, 22nd October – Craig Schneider Trio. Craig Schneider is a multi award winning pianist, vocalist, composer, arranger, and musical director

4.    Tuesday, 25th October – Box Hill Institute with Craig Schneider. The Box Hill Institute Jazz Ensemble is a big band featuring students from all three years of the Bachelor of Applied Music, and is directed by Craig Schneider.

5.    Wednesday, 26th October – Dizzy’s Big Band. Dizzy’s outstanding 18-piece Big Band perform at Dizzy’s, playing traditional arrangements from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Count Basie and Duke Ellington through to modern masters such as Gordon Goodwin and Tom Harrell.
